This past weekend we did the Red Rock Relay down in Southern Utah. Loved it! We had a team consisting of family and then also Ashley's friends. We had a great time. So tired, but loved it.
We headed down on Thursday night to get our team checked in in Cedar City. After checking in we headed to Parowan to find a place to sleep. Well the park that we had slept in last year was where we ended up again this year. We were in the process of setting up our sleeping stuff when a cop came over. Alec just told him what we were doing and he was great about. So we were good to go. Sleeping was tough because the sprinklers were on the whole night and I was determined that some psycho killer was going to come and take us out one by one.
We survived:)
Our team start time was 6:00, so we had to be up at Brian Head at 5:30. Oh my gosh it was so cold! Annie was our first runner and she rocked it.
A few of us took the lift up to the top of Brian Head with Annie so that she did not have to go herself. I swear it was 30 degrees without the windchill, so we were freezing!!
I felt bad for her, she started trail running in the pitch black. She loved the run though.
Because it was so dark she could not see very well so she went down a few times. This was a war wound for her. Sweet Annie, you are super hard core!
The first leg is always the best. We got a ton of pictures, throughout the race the pictures got less and less the more tired we got:)
He we are just waiting for a runner with Van 1.
Decorating the cars. Oh so fun.
Family Red Rock Picture:)
We hung around with the first van so we could see Ash with her first leg. She rocked her hill!
While waiting for our turn we just hung out at the transition and ate such healthy food.... ya know who could beat famous amos cookies:).
Our first legs had the best scenery of the entire run. It was so amazing. My first leg was hard for me but my absolute favorite. It was thundering and lightning the entire time and started raining and hailing while I was running. It was sweet, cold but sweet!
Here are some pics from our first legs. I didn't know what our pace was going to look like, so I did not have a clue what to tell them. So I gave Red Rock a guess of a 12 min mile, I was way off. Because of this we seriously led the race (just because we started so early) until our 3rd legs. At one point we were an hour ahead of the next team. It was kind of weird to be running by ourselves. We did not have any check points where the volunteers were even there yet till our 3rd leg. It was weird. We were with people until passing the teams on our first legs thanks to Seth, Alec, my Dad, and Mike. I was like the only one who got passed:).
We loved this car. It is the team who won the relay, but we just love anything to do with Jimmer!
Locking Dani in the bathroom. Rude!
Loved having the truck. Being able to stretch your legs out after you run is the best thing ever!
We had a great time and we were finished in time to make it home to watch the BYU game... bummer of a game!
