So Alec and I flew separate to the D.R. Alec flew and met my sister Ash in Atlanta. My layover was in New York. It was a long travel day. When I finally arrived in Santo Domingo I was so excited to see Alec and Ash waiting for me. I had the nicest lady help me get through customs. She told the man not to make me pay because I was their to help her people. She was so appreciative of the work that we were going to do. I was so grateful for her help since I know no Spanish.

This was the first picture we took in the D.R. It was so hot. We were sweating like crazy! The humidity was a killer:).

This was Ash eating a plantains. It tasted like a french fry. We basically lived on these and rice and beans the whole week.

This was our room at the Don Carlos. Hilton living right??? Their was no shower head, the water was freezing and smelled like urine. It was great:). The people in the room next to us had a cock roach in their sink.

This was our view of the ocean driving in the taxi to Higuey. It was a scary experience. We saw our eyes flash before our eyes on numerous occasions.

This was in the taxi, no seat belts and all. It was definitely an experience riding in these taxi's. Their are no lanes apparently, and I swear I did not see any traffic cops. They used their horns like they were going out of business. Our taxi drivers would keep their hands on their horns the whole time while driving. We would pass cars and come only a few feet away from head on's. It got to the point where we just could not watch anymore!
