First discovery of the trip...... the little dipper. Ok, I know this might be embarrassing to admit, and I probably shouldn't (this is one Alec would say keep it to yourself Em), but I was excited about my new discovery. So as we drove into Driggs (love that town), we opened the sun roof because you can see, I swear, every star. It is beautiful. Anyways, we opened it and Alec was like, look there is the little dipper. Ok, so growing up, and oh yeah, until last week, when someone would say oh there if the little dipper I would look so hard for it and never see it but pretend to see it and agree with them. I will say though I was always disappointed in my lack of seeing this cluster of stars. But I saw it this time and oh is it so cute!!!
We then went to our "camp spot" at the base of Grand Targhee. Well, it was pitch black and FREEZING, I think when we last looked at our car temp it said it was 12 degrees..... awesome, so we basically just set up our bed of down blankets in the back of our car and turned on a movie. It was surprisingly warm, well not warm, but we were not cold, so we were happy about that one.
The next morning we woke up to snow. I love snow in that area for some reason, it feels like an adventure when it snows there. We decided to get up and go walk around by our camp spot before heading out for the day. This is where we usually will camp in the summer, and when we lived here, we would always bring Brody up here. I love it because it is right by the river and it, well, is just gorgeous. You could not see the Tetons today because of the snow, but it was great anyway. We slide down the hill to get to the river, which was partly frozen which is my favorite!
After walking around for a bit and freezing our booty's off, we headed to grab some breakfast in town. We stopped at a new place (well a place that was not there when we lived there), it was pretty good. The hot coco was definitely a necessity to warm us up and it was super yummy too! We then decided that we would head over to the Jackson side to go so a waterfall and some hot springs to swim. The drive over to Jackson was another knee shaking experience for me, but we made it over no problem.
The waterfall was incredible. I had never been to this one before. I for sure need to come back here in the spring when I am guessing a ton more water is coming off.
Ok, so discovery two of this trip...... the Granite Falls hot springs are not open in Nov. We got up to the springs and this is the sign that we saw "pool closed till Dec. 10th", what the heck right. We just drove an hour and a half for this sign, awesome! Well, Alec was like lets go and see if anyone is up there and ask them if we could swim, he was like it is worth a shot.
Discovery three... Alec can talk anyone in to anything. He walked up there and there were a bunch of drunk guys and girls cutting wood for the winter. He started chatting with them and next thing I know they are yelling at me to come up. So we got to swim with some mountain men as they were drinking. It was funny. The water was so nice and warm though!
So after we swam, we headed back to Driggs to get in line for the movie (so only the first 500 people there got a buy 1 get 1 free to Targhee). Don't worry, we were the first ones there, so we were not to worried about not getting our passes, but hey we had come up basically for that very reason, so we did not want to miss out on our passes. I saw my 5 year old Alec when a helicopter flew in. He was like "Em, Em, look a helicopter", really Alec is that what that is:):). Then they had a hot air balloon people could ride up in. I was to cold to exit my car, so I passed that one, but it was fun to watch people. The movie was awesome! It was fun because it was snowing while we were watching it, so it added to the coolness of the situation for us!:) After the show there were fireworks and then we headed back to our campsite.
The next morning we ate breakfast and then headed back home. We went to my parents for Ash b.day dinner. Happy b.day ms Ash, you are getting so old! We had a great weekend and are excited to do it again next year, if anyone wants to join us anyone is welcome!

If we're there I'm all about that. Maybe we could splurge for a hotel room. You know I'm not a rough it when it's cold kind of girl.
Can't wait to see you!
Yo! It was great seeing you! We'll def stop by when we're down in slc again. In the meantime, let us know when you make your next vacay up here.

p.s. your a freakin cute couple!
What an adventure! I love how you're not letting winter slow you down. I feel like I've hardly stepped outside since October. We're still living in Jackson, so if you decide you don't want to brave sleeping in your car again, you're always welcome to stay with us! We have a mighty comfy air matress :)
