We stopped at a banana plantation. It was so cool. The bananas were the best I have ever had!
We stopped at an over look to see some fishing villages that were super cool. I wished that we could have walked around the villages. So apparently St Lucia is 50% rain forest, where everyone lives on the edges and the whole middle is rain forest. As we were driving through, our driver was telling us that there are TONS of snakes, Boas and Fairdelance snake, which is supposed to be super poisonous and kills tons of people. For some kids they go in and catch snakes and then have dumb tourist (like myself) pay them to take pictures with the snake. I wanted to conquer my fear, so I did, freaky!! I got it on, took a picture, and then wanted it off my shoulders as quick as possible because I was sure I was going to get strangled to death!!
After driving through the rain forest, we stopped at a place to grab some lunch. A lady made a ton of local food for everyone to try. My favorite was the coconut candy, and the banana donut type thing. They were super yummy. Alec loved the mango's. About a year or so ago, Alec had an allergic reaction to mango skin, but due to the fact that we were in the Caribbean, he felt like he would be fine.... well he was wrong and had the same reaction... who would have thought!:):)
We then headed to the only drive in Volcano. It was pretty cool, it just reminded us both of Yellowstone. Alec was not totally in love with the smell!:) It was funny because when we pulled into the volcano there was a major traffic jam due to the fact people were just pulled over taking pictures and what not. It was funny, because our driver was like this is not big deal, he was like here in St Lucia, the motto is "No Pressure, No Problem". In the states, I think everyone would have totally freaked out, they just got out and chit chatted with each other. Nice motto to live by I think!
I think we would head back to the volcano though, because you can swim in the water and play in the mud and stuff (again, the Bachelor). There were a ton of people doing that, I guess the water and mud is supposed to be good for your skin and stuff.
Next stop... botanical gardens. This was a quick trip to walk around the botanical gardens. Instead of exploring the gardens, Alec and I decided to jump in the water fall. The water was freezing, but super fun. There were some beautiful plants there, and it sure did smell yummy! (a lot better than the volcano).
Our next stop was to take a water taxi to in between the Pitons to snorkel. Our driver, Mango, told us that this was the beach where part of the last season of the Bachelor was filmed. Don't know if it is true, but that is what he said!
The snorkeling here was AWESOME!! We stayed here for about an hour or so and then took the water taxi back.
Because it had been raining and a bit foggy on our way to the Pitons, we could not see them as well on our way down to snorkel in between them, so on our way home we stopped. It was beautiful!!!!!
On our way back to the boat, our taxi driver stopped at a local bakery in one of the fishing villages, and grabbed us some HOT bread and some cheddar cheese, talk about the best thing ever!!! It was so yummy!!! The cheese melted in the bread because it was so warm, it was heavenly!
