So the second batey that we went to was a bit different than the first. Their were not as many people in this batey and their was no electricity. We had someone holding a mirror reflecting the sunlight trying to get some light into where we were working. While their, the medical group set up outside and the dental group set up inside. It started POURING rain. I think that hurricane Palomo finally was here. We all ended up in a tiny little room. It was a bit crazy, but it all worked. Flexibility is the name of the game!:)

After we were finished, I walked the perimeters of the batey. It was heart breaking. It smelled like urine and all the little kids were running around with no shoes or anything. This one felt a bit more run down than the one we had gone to the first two days.

The school had just got let out when we were headed home. We were able to see the school kids at their lunch break, so it was ok. When we got their the teacher informed us that we could not use her room or have treat any of the kids in school because they were being "watched" today by someone from Santo Domingo. I felt kind of bad, probably not the best day for us to stop by. I love this picture of this little boy and Alec. He was so cute!

Little Mikey's shoes in Dominican Republic. When Mike gets back his shoes are going to be well used, as if they were not before he left!:)

This was our good friend Erik. He just moved to the Dominican Republic about three months ago from Haiti. He came from aways away to help us with translation. He was a very neat guy. He was trying to get fluent in Spanish so that he could attend a university in the Dominican Republic. I was hoping to be able to have enough time to clean his teeth to say thank you, but the last day he was not able to come. I felt so bad, but I wish him the best of luck!

This kids name was Luis. He was a stud. He had so much going on in his mouth. He was with the doctor for over an hour getting his teeth pulled. He managed real well and was very thankful for the work that was done!

When it started pouring rain, these kids went outside to have a "shower".

Just a cute boy playing in the rain by the river.
