Another Friday huh!

So this week, we really have not been up to anything!!!!  We have been pretty boring, so instead of doing the five for Friday thing I thought I would do a look back at 2008.  I know it is almost the end of January and most people do this type of thing at the beginning of January, but I figure my b.day is in February so really that is the start of a new year for me:).  Also I thought this would be a fun way to start my next blurb blog journal (I just made one, I think that everybody should do it, it is super easy and a fun way to keep your blog entrees!!).

So I think that both Alec and I would agree that 2008 was a pretty rough year.  We are just glad we had each other and our families to help us get through the tough times.  Although it was a tough year and one that neither of us would want to relive, it was also an eventful year that brought some fun adventures!

January:  We found a fun new hobby in mountain biking!  We tried to go as much as we could with our busy schedules.  We realized our favorite time to go was when it was raining, or it had recently been raining.  We figured the muddier we got from riding the more fun we had. (We are excited because it has been raining for the past few days so we are hoping to get out there today!)
June:  I took my first of three exams on the road to becoming a Dental Hygienist!  This test was in Pocatello and if passed enabled me to practice in basically all the western states (except Cali), some of the central states, and a few of the eastern states.  It was a stressful experience hoping my patient was going to get on the plane from Cali, but it all worked out in the end.  Since the test was in ID, after it was over, I was able to spend the rest of the weekend with my family.  Krissy and Steve blessed their first baby, cute little Nate, while we were home.  It was so fun to be there for it!!!
August:  I graduated from Dental Hygiene school!!!!  I was finally finished and what made it even better was that my family came up to celebrate with us.  It was so fun to have them come up.  We held our first ever Jim Everton family reunion at a beach house in Aptos.  It was a blast.  After they left we were sad to come back because Eryn, Scott, and family had left us for their next adventure in Chicago.  We sure miss them a lot!

September:  Alec's mom took Alec and I to the Czech Republic.  This was my first time in Europe.  We were able to see Vienna, Prague, some of the Czech country side, and tour London.  It was a fabulous trip...... THANKS Marsha!!!  Some of our favorites from the trip were: missing our connection from Vienna to Prague, thus getting stranded in Vienna (expenses on the airline) for a day; feeling like we really got to know Prague and learned where stuff was; the yummy treats on ever corner!; the assortments of hot chocolate; going to all of the castles and going to Karlovy Vary; the towers of course; staying in London; seeing Les Miserable!!!

October:  I finished the final step in becoming an RDH, I was OFFICIAL!  I could finally start to work in Cali!  Alec and I also went to Yosemite.  This was my first time there.  We loved it!  We drove into the park as it started to snow, it was pretty crazy, but fun.  The next day we went on a 10 mile hike and I realized how out of shape I was!!

November:    I worked my first day as a hygienist!  Alec and I had the chance to go to the Dominican Republic with Iask4kids.  It was an incredible experience.  Things we will never forget: how much we appreciate the water in the U.S.; the size of the spiders; the great feeling of trying to help those people the best we could; seeing our lives flash before our eyes daily as we got into a moving vehicle; the exhaustion we felt after only 4 days of work; how excited we were to get tot he beach and take a break!

December:  Eryn, Scott, and family came back for a visit.  It was so nice to see them. After spending some time we them, Alec and I left for Utah for the holidays.  We spent Christmas in Jackson Hole, which was so much fun!  Over the 5 days we were in Jackson, the ski resorts got over 62 inches of snow.  It was crazy!  We had an awesome white Christmas which included a scary run in with a moose family.
So there are the highlights from 2008 for us ( I know nobody probably read though this, but I was doing it for the purpose of the blog journal:)).  Even though 2008 was rough we do feel like we were blessed in so many ways and are grateful for such awesome friends and family who supported us throughout the year!!!
