Rainforest, Biobays- Puerto Rico

We arrived back into port on Sunday morning. We were so sad to be done with our cruise!!! We LOVED it!
Ok, even though we were sad to leave, once you are packed and know your leaving, you want to leave... right? Well, our time to get off the ship was 9:45 (I wished it had been earlier), but we ended up not getting off till like 10:45ish. I was dying. I was ready to explore Puerto Rico again.
When we finally got off we had a taxi take us to the airport to rent a car so we could explore.

We ended up getting a jeep! We LOVED it! I want one, I already wanted one, this just confirmed my want:). We decided to drive up into the rain forest. It was AWESOME! You are in American territory in a stickin' rain forest... sweet!!! We drove around for a bit and then decided to get out and go for a hike to a waterfall! It was awesome. There were little pools of water and smaller waterfalls leading down to the bigger one at the bottom. We swam under the big water fall and then got in the river a few more places to swim. It was unbelievably beautiful!! We could have stayed all day and explored, but we knew we did not have very much time and there was oh so much more to see!:)
After the rain forest, we headed out looking for the biobays. We had heard so much about them, but could not figure a place to make reservations because the Internet said that most were usually closed on Sundays.
We stopped at a quaint little place to eat. It was yummy! I got some type of crab sandwich and Alec got some chicken that he thought was just the best! While at the restaurant, we ran into a guy that told us where to find the biobays!:) So we headed to Fajardo. So this was the first time we got lost, and we decided to get lost in a place Alec likes to call little Baghdad, yep, so if you get anything from the name you can realize we did not want to get lost there.

We finally found our way our and to the biobays. We got super lucky to get a tour with an awesome company! We started the tour at 6 where we went through a Mango forest in Kayaks to get to the bays. It was AWESOME! You could hear so many birds and it animals. It was great. As we were going through our guide was this is one of the only places we have "coki", we could not figure out for the life of us what the heck she was talking about. Alec thought she was saying they grew coke there and I thought she was saying they grew cookies. We finally realized she was talking about these little frogs that they only have there. Once we got through the forest we paddled around in the bay for a bit until it got dark. Ok, so the coolest thing ever!! The water totally would glow when you would move it around, it was so neat. It was fun to put your hands in, it looked like you had diamonds on your hands. It was awesome.
After the tour we headed back to our hotel. Again it was ghetto-fabulous! This time we did not get the room with the cool balcony, but we did get a great view of the Lagoon on the other side! We were both so tired, we did not grab dinner, we just went to sleep!

We headed back to Old Town Monday morning to grab some breakfast before our flight. Parking ended up being a hard thing to find. We asked a cop where to park, but he did not speak English, and again our Spanish is not so great, so we drove around the entire city before finding somewhere to park. When we finally found parking we were off to now find some place to grab breakfast. We found a cop (there are a lot of cops in Old Town, like on every street corner) who did speak English and he told us of a place a few blocks away. Boy were we glad we listened to him. It was delicious!!! Alec ordered food, and then oh yes ordered another plate. The guy just kind of laughed at us, but when we were done, he kept asking if we were sure and if we wanted more!:)

Then we were off! We had such a great time. We wish we could make this a yearly tradition, anybody in???
